Setting boundaries to reduce overwhelm and build connection.

How do you feel about boundaries?

Do they feel rigid? Selfish? Or just god damn hard to you?

Over time my clients have learnt to LOVE boundaries! Not only do they reduce feeling of frazzle and overwhelm…They build more connection. They create more freedom. They facilitate more joy.

Here are 3 of my fave personal boundaries that support all of this yumminess:

👉🏻 I never take meetings before 11am - this allows me time in a morning to fill up my own work cup before I invite other people into the party. This work may look like creating a programme / workshop, reading / learning around a topic, writing or visioning around the future of our business. Guaranteed when I show up for a meeting post 11am, I am much more present and lit up with ideas from within.

👉🏻 I carve out 2 days per week only for client sessions - I say no to client sessions outside of these days and I say no to everything else on these days. I have realised that I hate task switching! I.e. I find it hard to move from admin tasks…to strategic work…to a coaching energy. So on a Wednesday and a Thursday I am fully committed to preparing thoroughly for my beautiful clients and holding space fully for them.

👉🏻 I block out one day every weekend free of any plans and say no to any plan requests…even though my diary is totally empty! A whole blank day where I get to wake up and decide what freaking adventure I want to embark upon. Not only does this mean that I am saying yes to myself and my joy…it also means that when I hang out with my friends and my family I am not depleted. I am energised and able to be fully present in our time together.

Despite initial resistance from people in my life, my commitment to my boundaries means that I am a much better coach, friend, sister and daughter.
